JOB TITLE: Stockperson – Cattle and Sheep

LOCATION: Martins Well, Rangelands Reserve located in the Flinders Ranges Pastoral Region of South Australia.

SALARY: An attractive salary commensurate with skills and experience of the successful applicant will be offered. Range: $66,000 – $75,000.

COMMENCEMENT DATE: Negotiable from mid-April, 2025.

Martin Wells, Rangeland Reserve is located approximately 95km Northeast of Hawker, 50km due East of Ikara-Wilpena Pound and 365km (or 6 hours due to access via dirt roads) from the city of Adelaide. It is an expansive pastoral holding of 1,050 square kms (105,000 hectares/259,461 acres approximately), comprising diverse and productive land systems interspersed with ranges and creek systems.

The property has recently been purchased by Natalie and Bill Brown, Coorong Apiaries who will take possession in April 2025. Coorong Apiaries is a family-owned and operation business based in Meningie, SA. They own a range of other properties and stations in New South Wales and Western Australia, as well as operating the largest beekeeping business in South Australia.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Coorong Apiaries is seeking an experienced Stockperson – Cattle and Sheep to join their hardworking team on a full-time basis. The successful applicant will be responsible to the Station Manager for the day-to-day care, movement and health management of our cattle and sheep.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Muster and handle cattle using horses and motorbikes.
  • Herd and manage sheep, including assisting with shearing operations.
  • Monitor livestock health and provide necessary treatments.
  • Assist with breeding, calving, and feeding programs.
  • Perform fencing, yard maintenance, and general station work.
  • Operate farm equipment, including tractors and loaders.
  • Work in all weather conditions and be available for seasonal demands.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Minimum two years’ experience in cattle/sheep handling and station work; OR
  • AQF Certificate II, plus one year’s on-farm experience.
  • Ability to ride and handle horses safely.
  • Experience operating motorbikes and handling livestock in extensive grazing systems.
  • Knowledge of cattle and sheep health, nutrition, and husbandry.
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to work in remote locations.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of farm equipment is an advantage.
